The Cherry Orchard: "We used to be rich. My husband died and now it's like 8 years later and now we're poor. But I don't want to sell my cherry orchard!" Woe is her. Her brother is even more dreadful. This one's a snore compared to Sam Peckinpah's dark tale Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, which I watched yesterday instead of reading. Chekhov, you've met your match?

3 Sisters - This play set the stage for all the Housewives shows. 3 women bicker while decorated men make ridiculous comments and the slovenly woman becomes the tyrant. Pretty good. Again, much about idleness versus work and the woman's place in society blah blah blah NATALIA IS A WHORE

Uncle Vanya, good guy, but perhaps the doctor had the best speeches? An interesting look at the rich & idle, and how empty their lives are, while the workers, despite their intellectualism, will never rest or be happy until they are on their deathbed. Also, romantic intrigue, Waffles, the pock-marked guitar player, an offstage gun, speaking through your tears.

The Sea Gull - very cool play. All the action takes place offstage and the entire play is dialogue. There is much intrigue, cheating, etc., but you see almost none of it. Instead of focusing on the actions themselves, the focus is on the effects of the actions and the thoughts that lead up to them.
