Halfway through The Cherry Orchard! Despite some dropped plot lines and philosophizing making up much of the humor, there is a magic in this piece that I enjoy and remember fondly.

Just skimmed The Three Sisters because IDK what was happening.

I am so confused.

This drama is a comedy?
Also, I have no idea what this is about.

The Seagull is done. FINALLY WE GOT A MESSAGE! TBH I don’t know how to feel about this play as a whole, but I know it wasn’t as strong as I was expecting it to be, especially because I’ve liked other Chekhov work.
I’m skipping Uncle Vanya because I’ve already read it, so onto The Three Sisters.

But I’m getting very little of its effectiveness.

Time for a time skip!
You know, the only indication we had of Trigorin’s worsening mental state aside from an off-stage suicide attempt was the killing of the seagull.
I’m not finding this comedy very funny, but I think I can see what Chekhov is trying to do, pointing out the irony of fame, what it’s expected to do, and its reality.

On Act 3! This play is so meta that I’m not sure what Chekhov is exactly trying to say here.

Starting The Seagull tomorrow, so I’m reserving this space!

Three Sisters is definitely my fav so far!
