Only a chapter in, but this is so interesting, I think anyone interested in why our politics seems to produce so many fails should read this.
On MP candidate selection, it says this: just 1.1% of the population are members of a political party (and potentially able to vote on selection). The National Trust has FIVE times more members than all parties combined.
