I want to bring people together with the objects they are meant to meet. Objects that are meant to be passed on, forever, belonging to different people at different points in time. I want to be the intermediary for such encounters.

Still not a fan of the "mysterious librarian who knows how to solve your life problems with a cryptic clue" trope. Vignette 2 is better than 1 of the two. Vignette 2 makes me want to finally atrt that Etsy store I always think about.

"I am struck by a thought: most of the time we humans only look at the flowers or fruit of a plant, because we live above ground. Yet from a plants perspective, above ground and below ground are both equally important and in perfect balance.
Humans only see what suits them most and make that their main focus, but for plants .... Both are main."

I can’t believe I figured this out just now!
Different storylines, same library.
At first I though it was just libraries but then I saw the same names of employees at the same library. I loved that small detail

Loved it! How the bookstore lead Ryo to meet people ho helped him, encouraged him to open his business. How 1 trip to the library opend his mind to opportunities. I’m so happy that Ryo made is “one day” plan in to a tomorrow plan!

I finished the first chapter.
I liked how 1 childhood book, made Tomoka get into cooking, learn recepies and take care of herself. What I LOVED was that everybody had their own perspective of what Guri and Gura was about and what they baked with the egg.
Before buying this book, I didn’t know it had different chapters of different people, but I already love it!

1. It threw me that this first reader for this audiobook is the same reader for the audiobook version of "Butter" I was listening to.
2. I feel like the Librarian character in the first chapter, while accurate personality-wise to other librarians I know, isn't doing a very good job with her reference interviews. We librarians aren't just magical information fairies like the one in this book.

In a lot of ways this feels like a couple of short stories about improving your way of thinking to improve your life. I don’t necessarily disagree with that but I feel like this books needs to be more nuanced so that I don’t keep feeling iffy about what it tries to say. You’re better off with an essay about “the agentive” by Blommaert if you feel like you have the same slump as some of the characters here.
