So my problem with this book lies with the structure. If you are like me and learn top-down, this is quite a mess and it reminds me of bad schoolbooks that are bottom-up. Put everything from one person together instead of scattering it here and there. The way we go from person A to B, C and then suddenly there's something about A again is confusing. Just put everything about A together.

Demeter, the goddess of corn, mankind's best friend, the happy god of harvest, alongside Dionysus. Her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped by the lord of the underworld because she "strayed away from her companions". Women, even gods, had no agency and couldn't be by themselves or rescue their own daughter. Demeter put a baby in fire and got offended when the mother screamed. also a pomegrante seed? thats witchcraft

The worship called Eleusinian mystery that happens at the temple at Eleusis was so secretive, they held a vow of silence and much of the ceremony is unknown.
