Slowly unveiling the complexities of dream analysis, and the multifaceted causes for dreams (beyond the ever-quoted wish-fulfillment) is very well done. Freud rubbishes the pop-psych mocking blatherings of sexual analogy being the key to his psychiatric theory, with very little extensive reading. Roughly 100 more pages til further detail of psychoanalytic practice + "General Neuroses" theory. Tremendous stuff.

It is exciting getting into the part of the book for what is mostly known Freud. The correlation of the sexual desires and how we, humans, transform that into social and personal growth.

I'd recommend to analyze and digest one part at a time, it does take you to a journey of the human mind analyzing how the dreams connect with our awake life.

It has the ability to give you a unique touch when you're studying/researching human behavior, it is another layer.

Just read the passage on Freudian Slips. Dennett uses the same analysis in his theory of consciousness, very interesting.

So far learning about the depth of the human mind, trying to understand thoughts around the errors and dreams and how this knowledge was used to create the first theories about consumer behavior.

don't listen to all the people who say freud is irrelevant or pseudoscience that should be disregarded, you should really read it for yourself and draw your own conclusions

Reading this for my personality class. Our professor is starting the semester on Freud, and has asked us to write an article on his psychoanalytic theories without even, might I add, recommending a concrete reference from which to base our write-up. In other words: left to our own devices. I hope this book written by the great man himself would help me score a sparkling flat one. Good luck to me.
