Unfortunately, my kindle edition is already missing pages. Pages 25-28 aren't there. I think they were supposed to be maps.

From what i have read now: beautifully written non-fiction essays that scratches my brain in a very pleasing way. Really got me motivated again in its first pages already to get out there and go out of my comfortable bubble. Looking forward to the rest of the book :)

Second part of title checks out. What on earth was this? No clue. Seemed pretentious and pointless.

"The practice of awareness takes us below the reasonableness that we'd like to think we live with and then we start to see something quite fascinating, which is the drama of our inner dialogue, of the stories that go through our minds and the feelings that go through our heart, and we start to see in this territory it isn't so neat and orderly and, dare I say it, safe or reasonable." p.198-9

"Nonfiction seems to me photographic; it poses the same challange of finding form and pattern in the stuff already out there and the same ethical obligations to the subject. Fiction like painting lets you start with a blank canvas..." p.144

'For many years, I have been moved by the blue at the far edge of what can be seen, that color of horizons, of remote mountains ranges, of anything far away. The color of that distance is the color of an emotion, the color of solitude and of desire, the color of there seen from here, the color of where you are not.' p.29
