Joah, is echt nicht so mein Fall dieses Magical Realism Buch. Bin mir echt nicht sicher ob ich´s generell nicht mag, oder ob es an diesem speziellen Buch liegt.

I don't think I've read magical realism before so I'm excited to delve into this. 👀

I don't understand this book. It is a slideshow of colours and textures. Very strange.

I think I am going to give up on this book. I am listening to an audiobook version. I think it was supposed to be a little over nine hours total. I have gotten through about two hours, I think, and I am on chapter nine. Sometimes you just have to throw in the towel.

This has been on my TBR for *YEARS*. I needed something easy to get through after DNFing so many books lately.

I was a bit disappointed in the ending. It was definitely different than I thought it was going to be.

- I like the character of Rose’s father; someone I’d like existing in real life for most men especially the fathers. He just seemed so decent to me that he should actually happen. The part about calling and yelling through windows was hilarious to me. As I read the part of Rose’s father shouting with glee about the birth of his son, I was touched.

It's very light and easy to read. It's a good break

Not great

It's a bit surreal when you have to listen to an audiobook at 2x speed to make it sound like a normal reading.

This book is way to purple prose for my taste. It's pretty ridiculous over all.

I'm grateful this is in audiobook form. I couldn't sit through it if I had to sit still and read. It's not that exciting.

I think I’m going to shelve this book for the time being on pg 114. I have read and loved Bender’s short fiction which is surrealism at the highest quality but I’m thinking perhaps her quirky ideas work best in short form. As a novel this book is lacking pace and a fleshed out plot. I don’t feel particularly connected to any of the characters and there is no real excitement or thrill for me to continue sadly.
