Story is allover the place... every character seemed weird... as am halfway through still I can't figure out what's going on. let's see in the finish.

At the moment it is quite good, quite poignant.

I have a feeling I'll be reading a lot of Aimee Bender this Summer.

This is, by far, the STRANGEST book I have ever read.

This book makes me feel so sad, and I'm not even sure why...

This is pleasant change of pace after having just finished a WW2 historical fiction.

Melancholy, that's what the lady in the book store said and I agree. It's not terrible, but I feel like Aimee gives too much unnecessary information. It feels forced at times, it feels like she was trying to be literary instead of just being literary. This could have been a strong novella. I'm going to try to finish it today and move on to something more alive.

Mmmmm.... It started out great, the middle was good but somewhere along the end it just lost me... Really liked the premise and the story overall, beautifully written, just too slow for my taste.

I thought this book was about the sadness of lemon cake. Not the story of my big brother.

Its a bit annoying how when a person talks there's no quotations around there sentences.

So far, this book is interesting because the premise is unique. It's about a girl who tastes feelings in food- the cake her mother bakes for her birthday tastes hollow and sad. This idea is what drew me to the book in the first place, and as I'm getting to know the characters, the story continues to become more interesting to read.

I already love it! I usually read books where I can relate to the protagonist in some way, but even though this is an 8 year old girl I still like it. I picked it because the cake looked delicious on the cover but then the realness of the book with the small fantasy element really drew me in. The main girl just took a bite of her mothers home made lemon cake and found that she could taste despair and loneliness in it

It can feel so lonely, to see strangers out in the day, shopping, on a day that is not a good one... I wanted to erase them all. But I also wanted to be them all...

I have entered the 'just one more chapter' phase with this one! Can't leave it alone! ^_^!

It for really creepy there for a second. Can't wait to find out what all of that was about.

Slowing down just a tad. I hope it picks back up.
