So, she appears to be talking around the fact that her brother likely has Aspergers; and she has, what, migraines?

‘Mom, in the photos, was wearing a dress that seemed sheerer than it actually was, so in every photo she looked like a ghost, a ghost that at any moment you might catch nude. It was a work of art, the dress, because it danced right in between the very tangible and the very intangible, and her skin and the dress were hard to distinguish.

Impeccable, tight prose. At least once every few pages, succinctly beautiful phrasing makes me stop and repeat, just to enjoy it again.

I can tell you for absolutely certain that I am not digging the lack of quotation marks, particularly since there's so much dialogue.

Well this certainly picked up right as I was worried the pacing was getting too glacial. Thank goodness for that! A little worried about where this is going - or rather, worried that it won’t end up going anywhere. I do like the writing too, sets the mood so clearly. Wish I had time to finish this tonight.

The writing definitely evokes the kind of melancholy I expected but at somewhere between a third of the way and halfwayish through the book I'm feeling like the characters are still crazy undeveloped and also that maybe this should have been pared down into a short story. Or heavily edited down and then re-expanded upon to make a fuller novel. Odd to step from tightly-packed writing to the breeziness of this.

This book was...weird. I liked parts but it was like modern art: look at it too long and it makes no sense, you have to limit your exposure and not read too much into it or you can make it anything you want. It was depressing but interesting. I did not find the ending satisfactory at all.

Me trae memorias de uno de los primeros libros que leí el año pasado, “calling me home”. Recientemente leer ficción no es muy común en mi, pero no puedo evitar hacerlo de vez en cuando.

This book is kind of depressing. It's an interesting idea but apparently no one has any happiness in this novel.

I've given up on this one. Such an interesting premise, but that is where the interest ends. 20% was more than enough. The story is incredibly slow and dreary. Also, the lack of quotation marks.... ugh.
