Third time trying to read this book. If I can't get through it this time, it's time to admit it's not for me.

started this book manyyyy moons ago but i got distracted, so i just picked it up again at 15% where I had left it.

I like the overall themes of this book specifically how they allude to struggles with immigration BUT im kind of over the motifs with different species. like we’re 294 pages in the climax of the story is about to happen and cut to info dump and save the bees! its like an episode of rupauls drag race where they make a bunch of vague political statements in a silly challenge

the three main characters are like the least interesting part of this book. i feel like on paper this book is good but in practice its just meh.

beautiful writing just the vibes I needed. this made me realize that what I was missing in these other books all along was a gay person.

So far I have been drawn in by the representation of intergenerational trauma. The insights from the wise and loving fig tree have definitely helped to demonstrate the importance and reality of interspecies connections. I love the time jumps and how it disrupts linear storytelling.

Demorei um pouco pra pegar o ritmo de leitura desse livro, mas agora estou apaixonada e viciada. Não consigo parar e quero muito saber o que acontece. A autora escreve de uma forma muito envolvente e é muito interessante descobrir mais sobre esse conflito que eu não sabia sobre.
