Such an interesting read that feels almost nonfiction in some ways with the recounting of the history of Cyprus but interspersed with commentary and information from the fig tree as well as the story of the two individuals who are the foundation of the story.

Unusual method used to narrate the storyline involving what appears to be a talking fig tree ( or is it ? ) describing events and personal relationships in Cyprus prior to 1974 and thereafter in London in 2000’s &2010’s onwards between a Cypriot Greek , Kostas and a Cypriot Turk, Dephne

When a book becomes available from the library, I have to set aside other books. Such an unusual start and I love the narrator who speaks up every few segments and provides background.

Restos humanos… O que isso significava exatamente? Alguns ossos duros e tecidos moles? Roupas e acessórios? Coisas sólidas e compactas o suficiente para caber dentro de um caixão? Ou na verdade seria o intangível […] Quando tudo já foi finalizado, o que resta de uma vida inteira, de um ser humano… E isso pode realmente ser desenterrado do chão?
