A good way of showing backstory - well done.

Okay, not much is happening and I have to shift how I read the book to try and explain some of the main character's thoughts/decisions

my suspect is jason. he had an affair with skye nolan and he killed her, and poppy witnessed it. poppy doesn't know how to tell it in words that's why she drew pictures about the death of skye nolan. she witnessed when jason abused skye, perhaps. but this is only my suggestion yk, everybody seems so suspicious tho. and also the murdered of peggy nolan. omg complicated asf

if the picture is about poppy herself, dang it's gonna be the most plot twist part

Het begint nu toch wel spannend te worden. Ik ben benieuwd naar de ontknoping.

Ik hoop nu toch wel dat er nog echt iets gaat gebeuren, want tot nu toe lijkt alles meer in het hoofd van Tess af te spelen dan dat er echt iets is. Dat vond ik in het begin wel leuk, maar nu wordt het wat eentonig.

Het is al even geleden dat ik een boek van Nicci French heb gelezen, maar zij zijn zeker een van mijn favoriete schrijvers. Het verhaal leest lekker weg en is zo geschreven dat je als lezer ook denkt dat Tess de weg kwijt is. Dat hebben ze goed gedaan.

Tess komt wel wat als overbezorgde moeder over.

I made it halfway through chapter 2. I had just read three books in a row before this and this one I just couldn’t get into. The cadence was way off for me. Maybe I’ll try again some other time.

I felt like a lot of the dialogue was repetitive at times, which made the pace of the book feel a bit slow towards the first half, but it got better towards the second half.

I know we aren’t meant to like her ex-partner but oh my word, he is faaaar more sensible than Tess. It’s hard to not like him
