At first I was extremely confused about what on earth this book was trying to achieve but wow is it ever good! I was so afraid this was gonna be a dnf

I'm listening to the audiobook on Libby.

Such clever, emotional, personal prose! ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ has long been one of my favorites! Sara’s talent of making connections with TKAM, and the others on her ‘Reading List’, to her characters made them come to life! Their discovery of books,libraries and new friends added much light, happiness and awareness to their personal spaces! Thanks, Sara, for sharing your amazing creativity!!!

Re-read. My book club pick so need to make sure I can lead the discussion intelligently. 😉

Gorgeous book.

I am going to finish this tomorrow, but I need to write something right now.

I've loved these characters. This has been a "light" read helping me ease out of my Onyx Storm stupor. I love the characters. Mr. P, Alesha, and their discovery of the joy of reading. I was not expecting to be utterly heartbroken and drug into despair and reminded again how unfair real life can be even to the best of us. I feel betrayed.

Please try to remember that books aren't always an escape; sometimes books teach us things. They show us the world; they don't hide it.

When he eventually stands up from his chair, the evening light is streaming through the window, and the library looks exactly how he remembers it: magical.

I’m listening to this on audiobook while also having two other books on the go— an ebook and a physical book— and this’s making it a perfect mix because whenever I turn it on it reminds me how reading is so much more. How it can elevate our existence and our connection to the world and ourselves! I’m loving it immensely :)

Utterly charming and heartwarming and cosy. BUT the writing is a bit cringey/cliched at times and the dialogue feels more like how the author things young and old people talk rather than how they actually do. Aleisha’s narrative is more interesting and engaging than Mukesh.
