Slepkavības bija ģimenes padarīšana un līdz tiesai aizgāja tikai turīgāko un uzņēmīgāko cilvēku mēģinājumi sodīt vainīgo. Nogalināt sievu nebija tik slikti kā nogalināt tēvu/māti/bērnus. Ja viens vergs vainīgs, sodīja visus vergus mājsaimniecībā, parasti piesita krustā. Viens bagāts kretīns meta baseinā pie jūras nēģiem. Tad vēl gladiatori, indēšana. Aizraujoši.

Senatoriem republikas laikā/impērijas sākumā dikti patika nogalināt. Interesanti arī, ka ilgu laiku nebija stingri likumi, kas attiektos uz slepkavībām, pārsvarā tādas "problēmas" risināja ģimenes iekšienē. Viens nozieguma veids, kas romiešus šausmināja tik ļoti, ka par to gan Cicero un citi paspēja gari izteikties un noteikt sodu, bija ģimenes locekļa slepkavība.

my pitch of this book is that the author just referenced gretchen weiners from ‘mean girls’ like she’s a reputable Roman history (she is, imo)

I am really not smart enough to listen to a very heavy non-fiction book on Palestine while 40 year old white men shout at each other in my office as if they’re not sitting next to each other or on a literal phone call. So here I am, adding another book to my currently reading.

this is non fiction but its so so so good

If you’re looking for a light book about Roman culture and how murder fits into it written by someone who will quote Mean Girls and say “sorry not sorry” by the gods this is the book for you

This book already slaps so fucking hard

So, I don’t normally comment on non-fiction, but this bothered me enough to say something: comparing the Romans’ abhorrence of parricide to Adam Lanza was in really poor taste.
