This is a story of loss-family, homes, friends, and more. How do you deal with decisions that your parents make, which affect your life? It may seem easier to pretend that you don't care about all the changes, but that just causes more issues. With the help of the Queen, Amelia, an extinct animal, a young curator, and others, the two cousins have a great adventure and find out what is truly important.

This is a bizarre story. Marisol and her cousin have gone into the world of blinks. Many things, people, and places have been disappearing into this world, since the dinosaurs, according to the story. Extinct animals, lost ships, the famed Atlantis, Queen Nefretete, and Amelia Earhart all show up in the story. Curators are a big part of the second half of the book. They maintain order in the Blink World.

Nana's family are at the beach house to pack up her belongings, to sell the home. Jake and Marisol are upset at the thought that they will never come to the house again, never hear their Nana's stories, never again feel the wonder of all that encompassed their visits there. After finding a map hidden behind a picture that Jake made in school, they start their own adventure, putting them in Nana's world.

Jake and Marisol, cousins, are from an adventurous-traveling the world-family. Their Nana has passed away, but she left a lasting legacy, for her children and grandchildren, in her beach house in South Carolina. It is loaded from top to bottom, in its numerous rooms and hallways, with pictures and mementos of her travels, all over the world. But, is this world the only one she traveled in? They will soon find out.
