They seem like humans, which is what they are.

This is really a good book. It's a really strange tone, bc it's written very similar to the Black Sea book I read a few years ago (last year?) that is mostly laid-back food and travelogue with politics really well wound in. It is extremely good, but it could be triggering as well for anyone who doesn't want to hear dictators humanized. I get that. But I appreciate that the author was balanced.
