There was a night recently when Allen, high on quaaludes, had whacked her across the face. It wasn’t like him to be like that, she knew. He wasn’t that kind of guy. And yet, he’d done it all the same, and it was something she would not forget. Paige’s mother had often repeated a piece of motherly wisdom: “If you’re not going to marry a guy, don’t tie yourself down to him.”

I adore this book and am looking forward to reading the rest of these stories, but I have to take a break because it’s hitting a bit too close to home right now ❤️🩹

These stories are so raw my eyebrows are stuck in the “concerned” position.

Every American should read this. Only 12% in and it’s just basic info about abortion, but it’s more than most people voting on our bodies know.

Controversial read but it’s more than what the title says. There’s always room to learn and familiarize yourself with others’ stories.

Talking about ectopic pregnancy reimplantations and abortion reversals, it looks like the US is operating in a sci-fi world, what even????

Insane thing to digest: we require parental consent when a minor wants to have an abortion, but parental consent or even notification isn’t required by law for a minor to continue a pregnancy and become a parent

I’m sometimes asked by patients about sex selection. I have had some patients, mostly of Indian descent, in the United States tell me that they want an abortion because they can’t have another girl, that it would be burdensome to the family. Truthfully speaking, this doesn’t sit well with me. But I have to remind myself—

I had two predictions about this book before beginning it: that I was about to be reminded at the strength of women and utterly infuriated at lawmakers and others who try to hinder a woman’s right to choose. I’ve been correct on both predictions 😄
