heard there is some discourse about the author?
been listening to it on Audio and taking things w a grain of salt. as I think everyone should do with these self help type books. taking tidbits to better understand my pts and given them strategies as well.
book intros about how sometimes a therapy sessions aren't enough and the work you can do on the outside of them to get to a better place.

i read the introduction/ “the primer” to how to do the work and i honestly resonated with that feeling of being “stuck”. i’m told i have a lot of insight, yet i follow these patterns of disruption.

Listening as an audiobook. She highlights some of my favorite books and includes relatable content

You do not need to be a reflection of their unprocessed trauma.

Amazing. One of the best self-help-esque books I’ve ever read. It was assigned for my 300 hr Yoga Teacher Training and I found myself highlighting like crazy. I went through 2 highlighters in fact. It also acknowledged openly the differences in experience for BIPOC folks.

Subtly encouraging people to go off meds in the first few pages of a book is craaazy. I understand the point she was trying to make tho so I’m gonna give the benefit of the doubt and keep reading

I love this book but I can only do the work for like 30 minutes a day. Slow and steady

It shines the light on the part of our mind that wants to hide. Really painful but beautiful.
