Status Updates From The Last Astronaut

This got weird and scary and I LOVE it.

Oh my god, I love Big Dumb Object books so much.

The tension keeps building.

This book should have more readers and reviews. It has been a great slow read thus far. I've been taking it easy on reading and this one has been a great one for 300 pages. Almost done.

"Matriphagy," Rao said. "It's common in spiders and nematodes back on Earth."

She would never have this chance again. To stand inside the skull of a creature from another star.

"This whole time," Rao said, "we've been looking for aliens. We never stopped to think that the alien was right in front of us. This," she said, gesturing at everything around them, "is the alien."

"And when I look down at Earth, I see it too."
"What do you see?" she asked.
"I see how fragile it is. The thin margin of the atmosphere, like a glass shell around the planet."

She had found that in life, more often than not, the information you saw that was the most heartbreaking was the most accurate. It was the hopeful stuff you had to be wary of.

Big Dumb Object SF that is more Been there, Done that (Over and over). Rama with a splash of Expanse, hence the higher ick factor.

Space is dangerous enough without everybody measuring their dicks all the time.

"It's like the world's largest laser pointer," she said as she studied the diagrams and instructions.
"If there's a giant cat inside 21," Stevens said, "we're golden."

The universe is so big there are very few unique things in it.

Well. This is finally getting interesting.
The music is a nice touch.

If you've seen my channel on YouTube, you know I love Space and everything about the darkness beyond this world. With that being said, I strongly believe this book to be a great contender to that of the Martian!!!
This books has been absolutely great thus far.

Ugh. This is starting to feel like a hate read.

This is...not great. At all. Nearly done, might as well plow through it to the finish line, though.

thought I'd look through some of his other books to see if I might want to read them. Um, nope I don't do zombies

Suddenly.... Cthulhu!

So far I can say that the story itself is enough well written for me not to drop it at the beginning, but not gripping enough to keep my undivided attention...

This book is so god damn boring. UGH. Sometimes I hate reading books for challenges. Can't wait to be done with it, not soon enough.

Just started this book, but I am not loving how anxiety-laden the mission commander seems to be. Is that the book or the narration?

this book is absolutely outstanding. will contend for book of the year if the ending doesnt crash and burn - but I personally have never read a book that doesnt progress in terms of what I've read like this! I read for 80 mins last night and I'm a fast reader and I progressed 10%. color me confused!

The astronaut book I just finished was vaguely disappointing; hoping this one is better.
