Status Updates From The Last Astronaut

I love sci-fi, but sometimes there's too much sci and not enough fi for my liking. Like, what am I even reading? Let's get to the good stuff!

Some bullshit about less technologically advanced societies being destroyed just by being introduced to a more technologically advanced society, with an example that so blatantly misses the reality that I want to believe it was meant to be taken as satire or the character being a dipshit, but I can't because the other characters agreed with it.

This book's focus on US Government space agencies is irritating. JPL, NASA, Spaceforce, and a single private space exploration company based in the USA, with no collaboration with other countries? This is supposed to happen in the future, but the author's expectations of the future, both in terms of diplomatic relations and technology, seem to stagnate 5 years from now. I expect the action to pick up soon.
