Are we supposed to like the mother or feel any sympathy? Because the romance is taking a big backseat to how awful, selfish, and uncommunicative the mother is, and how grouchy Coll is. Every problem in this book wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the mother and it’s really making me not enjoy the entire thing.
