This is going to be amazing. The two mini essays I’ve already written (of my own free will; for fun) on chapters 1-2 have got my mind spinning. I’m captivated by this book already

Maybe I should have never started this book. 50 pages in and it already ruined my perception of Orwell

Orwell’s take on poverty and societal economics are as applicable now as they have ever been and it was interesting to read this as a lived experience in comparison to the metaphorical or dystopian Animal Farm/1984.

'A beggar, looked at realistically, is simply a businessman, getting his living, like other businessmen, in the way that comes to hand. He has not, more than most modern people, sold his honour; he has merely made the mistake of choosing a trade at which it is impossible to grow rich.'
