Good, but definitely repetitive on a couple of concepts. Until now the quality of work in there really depends on the chapter, the introduction to broadly applied concept such as post modernism, naturalism, dualism, etc. are really well written an interesting. As well as most tools and techniques used to alter reality for nefarious ends, cool to read.

I've been a listener to their podcast since about 2006, although I've been lapsed for about 2 years. One day I will go back and catch up. Maybe next year.

So far a very good explanation of scientific skepticism, critical thinking, cognitive bias’. That focuses on self reflection.

“[R]ecognize that you never have all the information. Next, withhold judgment and give other people the benefit of the doubt. Imagine that the other person is a character in their own movie. Find out what the plot of that movie is before you make yourself into a cliché.”

“We may have a narrative that blue-eyed people are rude. Whenever someone is rude to you, you may look to see what color eyes they have. If they have blue eyes, this confirms your narrative and you remember it as evidence to support it. If they do not have blue eyes, you dismiss that information as an exception and promptly forget the encounter. This is often how bigotry is formed and maintained.”

Wonderful so far. I'm a big fan of the podcast, but I was worried that the book might be average (as these things often are). Anything but. A real deep yet accessible exploration of how we think, remember, and reason.
