Curiouser and curiouser

I just read Cashore's blog post about her writing experience with this book and it opens your eyes and I am just like omg yay! haha its really interesting reading the author's thought process and writing process. :D

This was book was slow, building atmosphere I presume. Then, it was action packed and I couldn't put it down. Now, something very odd has happened and I'm trying to catch up and go with the flow.

Oh my gosh! This is so different from the Graceling series but it's soo good!

These people are weirder than my family and that is saying something

This is so weird and good!

I can't shake the feeling something strange is afoot and I just can't figure out what it is.

so the book went from a sort of heist/mystery, to a spy mystery, to a horror story, then sci-fi, and now into full fantasy (at least I think it is for now). this book doesn't stop and I kinda love it

Slightly disturbed by parts I just read. Good but very creepy.

So far my favorite characters are a dog and a dead woman.

Not sure how I feel about this book yet....

At a very interesting point that's kind of creepy

Genre 5: A portal fantasy. This book... and the subtle weaving of romance into the story was excellent.

Genre 4: I got a damn space opera!!! 4/5 The philosophical questions it raised and Jane's instinctive resentment, hesitation, and acceptance of her other self were perfect. There was not enough Jasper though.

Genre 3: (Gothic?) horror. Genre 2 and this one both are 4/5. This got really dark and really trippy and bring up a question: are the timelines layered or parallel branches that never interact...

Genre 2: spy thriller. Nix the thriller from genre 1. And if Kiran is mad at Patrick for the rest of her days I won't be upset. Aunt Magnolia, you clever old witch.

Genre 1: thriller/mystery. It rings of Agatha Christy and Jasper lives. It feels complete even though I still have many stories left. 4/5

I swear to God if anything happens to this dog I will lose my shit.

What kind of people are my parents? "Dead. Yours?" Oh my dear Jane, I think I love you. And I'm really enjoying this story -- the house itself is very ominous. Now if only the cover wasn't butt ugly.

So far I am finding this book to be delightfully odd. It is just the thing to distract me from the world burning.

This book is so strange and wonderful and I love it.

So did everyone living at the house just think someone else got the dog?

Very interesting read so far. Can't wait to see what happens next
