Something about this book so far makes me think of Alive in Wonderland. Jane has been dropped into a new, strange land and must figure out the rules and dynamics

Very curious. Am I wrong to be getting a gay/bi vibe from Jane? Also, I feel it seems odd that the narrator calls her Jane, but it’s Janie in all the dialogue.

This book has the strangest writing style I’ve ever read. Which is weird because I adored Kristin Cashore’s other series and they were written way different. It’s almost written to be confusing on purpose and I can’t even explain it.

This is very interesting and also very Kristin Cashore.

This is so chaotic...I just can't decide whether or not to finish it...

Well I’m getting an odd vibe so far, but I have high hopes...

I'm loving all the Daphne du Maurier references. Also, this kind of reminds me of a YA Ellen Raskin book, is that weird?

Delightfully surprised at how much fun this book is

Totally different from the Graceling trilogy. Honestly a little weird that it's set in real life! But so far, so good!

Ohh, Gothic. Really, I should have seen that coming. Of all the allusions, I never cared about the stepmom, though. Finally, some house focus at least.

What the hell is happening in this book? I am so confused and super close to quitting.

What is this book?

At first I thought I'd skip around in this, choose-your-won-adventure style. But after doing that and reading Part 4 first I just decided to go old-school chronological. I figured the parts are in a certain order for a reason, even though it probably doesn't *really* matter which order you read them in.
I'm very much enjoying this book!
