I am about a fifth of the way into this. I can see what is prompting all of the critical reviews--it feels like an early draft. This doesn't read as if it is the same author as the Graceling series...

This book is so strange so far, but in enough of an intriguing way that I’m still interested... I have no idea what the main point is yet.

that whole chapter was really creepy and kind of scary because the tone was so different?? that felt like a horror movie

My instinct is to hate this book. Just from the way the story is told. It's not at all what I expected going in to it, not what I expected from this author. But it turns out that's why I'm enjoying it so far. It's making me critically examine my opinions and expectations.

This is one strange book. I feel like I need to finish it, but I don't know if I will.
