Status Updates From The Magic Strings of Franki...

My last update was supposed to be (Inferencing).

"I have witnessed [tyrannical societys] before.Their citizens always look the same. Tired. Glancing back and forth. And battling a constant, choking fear." I love the way the author chose to show this. Instead of stating the citizen's feelings outright, the reader must infer, through the facial expression described, what these people were going through. (Favorites)

Music says, "I was quite busy during those years collecting talent that was snuffed out before its time, left on battlefields, drowned in sunken ships, shot out of the sky.... Why humans kill each other is beyond my comprehension..." It's very interesting looking at war from the perspective of an omniscient being. Why do we kill each other? What's the point?

Music says, "Money. A mystery, I must admit. While it clearly means a great deal to humans, it seems, to me, an enormous burden... Wealth has never defined music." (Favorites). This particular quote opened my eyes to a new perspective on money: it's just paper. Yet we give it the power to consume us and control us completely, convinced it is worth more than our talents..

Really enjoying it so far

Very good, especially if you like music.

"As the months went by, the woman noticed he would turn whenever church bells chimed." The author does this to further emphasize his point that Frankie was born with music instilled within him. This is so beautiful to me, it shows the purity of music that can be found within even the tiniest of humans. (Writer's Strategies) (Favorites)

The author keeps telling the story of Frankie Presto's birth, but stopping just before the end. Here, the story is told for a second time. The raiders are destroying the church beneath the cellar where Carmencita and her newborn Frankie are hiding, but we never find out what happens to them. The author keeps us on a cliffhanger. I think this is to encourage the reader to keep reading. (Writer's Strategies)

Music explains, "...I was born in the open air, in the breaks of ocean waves and the whistling of sandstorms, the hoots of owls and the cackles of tui birds. I travel in echoes. I ride the breeze. I was forged in nature, rugged and raw. Only man shapes my edges and makes me beautiful." (Favorites)

Listening to this on cd, on cd 6 of 7. Wow! Mitch Albom has proven himself to be a great storyteller!

A magical story, sad, beautiful, and remaining in your heart long after you've read the l page.
