A really great story thus far and worth reading. Reminds me a little of the Red Violin.

I like this, but wow, there is a Forrest Gump vibe. Touching famous lives, always coincidentally stumbling on things, an ethereal girl who continually shows up in his life. Aurora is totally his Jenny.

This part about music and drugs (that drugs don't inspire musical creativity, they just take our musicians prematurely) is beautifully written.

SO GREAT!! hooked already, love this author. Shout out to Ebethwhitehouse for knowing what I like.

Sixth Mitch Albom book in a row and another great one!

I think I cried a little

At first I wasn't sure I was going to like it but now I can't put it down. Another hit by Mitch Albom!

I've got a feeling that I'm gonna be rating this 5 stars, so goooood!!!!

In western music, things resolve. A suspended fourth moves back to the third. A diminished chord slides to its tonic. Dissonance to consonance. I make peace that way.

I have said that music allows for quick creation. But it is nothing compared with what you humans can destroy in a single conversation.

Baffa was caught by Generalissimo and been imprisoned. Francisco left alone. El Maestro is his father without even both of them know it. Sad story. end of part 1.

He thought about all the music he'd learned. He recalled one of the stolen discs, a song from the Philippines that his teacher said was "sad enough to melt the phonograph needle."

El maestro had taught it to Frankie. Its title was "Maalaala Mo Kaya," written by a Filipino composer named Constancio de Guzman. It depicted two people from different social classes promising not to forget their love.

This is so enjoyable. Will write more when I'm finished but am quite surprised as I had avoided Albom in the past, my impression of his writing was apparently incorrect.

Much to my surprise I'm really enjoying this book!

I cried too early... how??? this story is just so sad

I'm already on this book for a week now. But I can only read it in Largo.. because I can only take so much agony in just a number of pages. How can a writer address so much heartache beautifully and painstakingly addicting yet unfollowing? I am more than inspired, it's beyond my reading, more on feeling.

A thrilling tale that weaves the compelling nature of music into a novel. Sent shivers down my spine.

i wish i had the option to give more than five stars. A great read.

I can't remember the last time a book I was reading for the first time made me cry, let alone sob. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

Love it so far.

I am at a slump phase of this book. Not keeping my interest, am skimming somewhat.
