“you’re never in love with anyone the way you are when you’re eighteen, on a beach, at night, with your shoes off.” — darlene love
the various POVs incorporated paint a wide picture of who frankie presto really is. chapters narrated by Music is who frankie is when nobody’s watching but the parts narrated by the people whose lives have been changed by frankie is just as important.

i’m still in the exposition stage and it’s doing a good job at building intrigue about the mysterious frankie presto, who apparently has been everyone and everywhere. i’m a fan of mitch albom so i’m expecting a story that just sucks you in in the later pages

This is by far my favorite book I have ever read as of right now. I have never had to put a book down because I couldn’t read through my obnoxious sobbing and tears. Mitch Albom never ceases to amaze me in the most beautiful of ways. Incredible!

Yesterday
I saw a bird
Whose tree had disappeared,
The clouds lay claim
To a moonless sky
You are gone
I'm here.

But all love stories are symphonies.
And, like symphonies, they have four movements:
Allegro, a quick and spirited opening
Adagio, a slow turn
Minuet/Scherzo short steps in 3/4 time
Rondo, a repeating theme, interrupted by various passages

There are songs that you play that you have to restart, and songs that you play that you never get right. But when a song is complete, there is no more you can do.

Here is what I know of love. It changes the way you treat me. I feel it in your hands. Your fingers. Your compositions. The sudden rush of peppy phrases, major sevenths, melody lines that resolve neatly and sweetly, like a valentine tucked in an envelope.

Everyone joins a band in this life.
You are born into your first one. Your mother plays the lead. She shares the stage with your father and siblings. Or perhaps your father is absent, an empty stool under a spotlight. But he is still a founding member, and if he surfaces one day, you will have to make room for him.
As life goes on, you will join other bands, some through friendship, some through romance, some..

Did you ever notice how music sounds different played outdoors? A cello in a garden wedding? A calliope in a seaside amusement park?
That's because I was born in the open air, in the breaks of ocean waves and the whistling of sandstorms, the hoots of owls and the cackles of tui birds. I travel in echoes. I ride the breeze. I was forged in nature, ragged and raw. Only man shapes my edges to make me beautiful.

Yes, I’ve read this before — most recently in December of 2015. So I’m due for another round. Love this book!

"I will share a secret: this is how talents are bestowed. Before newborns open their eyes, we circle them, appearing as brilliant colors, and when they clench their tiny hands for the first time, they are actually grabbing the colors they find most appealing. Those talents are with them for life. The lucky ones (well, in my opinion, the lucky ones) choose me. Music."

"...He is there, inside the coffin. In truth, he is mine already. But a good musician holds respectfully until the final notes are played. This man's melody is finished, but his mourners have come a great distance to add a few stanzas. A coda, of sorts.
Let us listen."

Frankie is married to Aurora but he is booking gigs and never at home so Aurora left him and he is kinda a lonely but becoming a rockstar. Something that I would change is how it is written it talks about a time period and then goes somewhere else and about 50 pages later it goes back to earlier time and finshes the story. I feel that it makes it harder to remember what happens and it is more confusing.

I'm really enjoying the writing style. It reminds me a lot with some of our old fashioned writing style in arabic, which the would waste a lot of ink and paper to jusy say "it was a lovely morning".
And why the difference would have been made if frankie was thrown in the river by his real mom instead of the nun??? I will keep on reading hoping to change my mind.

I am loving this book so far! It’s been a while since I had a story I didn’t want to put down. It’s really fun to listen to the songs that are brought along the way
