Farnons brother Tristan has arrived. Tristan is also studying to be a vet.

Herriot has met Farnon and learned the layout of the vet clinic.

The story takes place in Darrowby Villiage in Yorkshire Dales. I picture the village as a place where everyone knows each. It’s a village where the people are friendly and welcoming once they get to know you. It’s surrounded by land that is covered by farms.

Uncle is quite a character. As you read you can picture this older shorter man wearing outdoor farm clothes sitting on the hay voicing his opinion on the current situation.

Quite a whiplash of a change from reading Jane Eyre, but this is a perfectly cozy way to end summer and a pregnancy. The writing is stupendous.

This is so sweet and funny and unexpected. What a comfort read. I absolutely adore it so far. Tricky Woo 🤗

Mam inne, bardzo stare wydanie, ale początek w który zaczyna się od leżenia w śniegu z ręką w krowiej macicy mnie urzekł.

Was really craving some quiet, comfy reading with little stakes. With the spooky season coming up my reading material is going to consist of monsters and gore for the next two months.

Ok guys I have been reading this for A WHILE but I’ve been so busy sorry to worry you all sending love and kisses

One of the nicest stories is that of an older woman who confessed she was worried that once she died she’d never see her dogs or cats again. Friends and family yes, but not her beloved animals, because she’d been told they had no souls. They love, Herriot responded, and often enough love far better and more unconditionally than humans. That’s soul enough for me. I’m confident you’ll see them again.

The narrator of my audiobook is Nicholas Ralph who plays Herriot in the most recent remake of the stories by Masterpiece. Born in Cape Town, but fully raised in Nairn in the Scottish Highlands. Great and totally comprehensible accent. He’s great in the TV series and great in the audiobook. In fact, he’s done all four of the major Herriot books, so I’m looking forward to getting into all the tales that way.
