Bursting with heart, humor, and hygge. Though I feel slighted that I was alerted to the presence of these books by the TV series, I now see that PBS not only accurately represents what a treasure these stories are to this day, but also they have introduced me to a new favorite author.

my mom loves this book. even though there isn’t an overarching plot, i can’t stop reading. each chapter is little stories in his life as an animal vet, in a little British country town. So for example, chapter one he has to deliver a baby calf who is breech.

So sweet and the easiest story to follow!

only just started this, but have been enjoying it from the first page (or, minute- i'm listening to it :))

It’s very rare that a book makes me laugh out loud. This one has me laughing one minute, and crying the next. This is my new heartwarming comfort read and I’m glad there are a ton of books in the series. Why did it take me so long to begin reading?

Stumbled upon the PBS show and it unlocked a long forgotten memory. Now I’m on a journey to read all of these until I find the one my grandparents had (although that one was illustrated)

I am enjoying listening to All Creatures Great and Small - read by the lead actor in the PBS Masterpiece series- so I picture all the characters on all the adventures!

Yeah. This one is special.

It’s a memoir, but it reads like a fiction piece. I love his writing style and how he makes these small interactions with clients and animals so interesting and intriguing.

Absolutely amazing. Like stepping back in time, living the life I’m living now and answering all of my internal worries about through the solidarity of an extensive history of all the vets who came before me.

A very good story.

Herriot has met Mrs. Pumphrey and her Pekingese, Tricki. Herriot is Uncle to Tricki. I think Mrs. Pumphrey is a sweet lonely old lady who doesn’t have many friends, just the servants who work for her. I think that is why Herriot sits by the fire listening to her stories and drinking a glass of sherry.

Here we go again. Will we actually finish this time? Only time will tell.
