Status Updates From How to Behave in a Crowd

Not sure if I like it, yet.

Anyone with any connection to academic culture is going to recognize this world and how absurd it is. I love this book and this narrator so much!

I love this family, especially Isidore. They're intellectuals, with Simone obnoxiously overconfident about it and Isidore the only one who doesn't take himself too seriously. Also, the attitude is so much French superiority, and when that gets combined with the matter-of-fact-ness of a 111-year-old woman (a neighbor), the candor is hilarious.

Considering that I just finished a book about a musician dying of ALS and the book I'm planning to read AFTER this is literally called White Fragility, I think a novel from the point of view of a middle-class French preteen is probably just the right amount of emotional engagement I need right now. I like Dory/Izzy/Isidore, and the family dynamic is believable.

Aurore is quite relatable.

I like it. The family of intellectuals so fits the stereotype. I also relate to Izzie as he is the least smart, but has other skills necessary to keep the family as one.

Well, that escalated quickly! I'm not sure what the plot is because the timeline is weird this one. It's like the mc is either in the present or is looking back at a memory.

I've taken German so I kind of understand what he was saying. I feel somewhat accomplished. 😭😜 Then again, English isn't my first language so I don't know what I'm going on about... 😂

I like it but I feel like nothing's happening.
