Descartes wrote all this in a time when science, biology and neurosciences weren't that advanced. From a 2019 point of view, i cannot agree with his endless theoretical discussion. but it is interesting to read, i may have to reread it with a pencil in the hand.

I am because I think and I am through my senses.
The objects around me (wax) are defined by me through my senses and my
thinking (to put what I got from senses all together and give it a name).
And now - we only have 5 senses and, at least for me, I cannot think what an extrasense would bring me. "The sixth sense" is mostly coincidence.
