On the fence so far. I have no idea why, in books and movies, marriages where one spouse dies suddenly always feature a hot sex scene right before the death. I also think it unlikely that Doug would be so broken up if the book took place later, and instead Hailey died at 55, when he was just hitting his midlife crisis and would already be thinking of trading in for a newer model. Call me cynical.
