Prescient but also dated. The jargon especially feels embarrassing because of how particular and abbreviated it is and it's hard to feel immersed as a result. Also the whole bushmen angle is killing me slowly. Still reading on because there is a sense of mystery at least.

The WWI foreword was intriguing and good. The next bit with the sci-fi MMO stuff seems to have not aged so beautifully but I'm hanging in there. I think I just cannot stand when sci-fi writers call the internet "the net". Up there with using the word "creche" smh.
