The use of the word “fuck” in this book makes me feel like the author wasn’t allowed to swear until they were an adult and is trying to make up for lost time

The beginning of this book was so excellent but both Gillian and Sally's love interests just give me the ick lol. This is one of those books where the movie is better. I don't think I've ever said that before smh

I am so close yet so far away to my reading goal. I am reading this via audiobook while I am doing housecleaning and I keep pausing to say - WOWWW big difference from the movie.

I hate this book so much.

The plot itself isn’t really there, but the style of writing is very smooth and the scenic descriptions are almost *magical*.

This is pretty heavy on the exposition which I’m usually not a fan of, but it’s working for me here! I’m definitely liking this more than the movie so far, though to be fair I don’t remember much about the movie.

Didn’t finish, watched the movie.
Will try again next Halloween season.

I’m not even slightly done with this book but the way it’s written, the cruelty of the town but the strength of the bond between these sisters and their interest in their aunts magic is so so good.
