As a big fan of the movie, it is vastly different from the book. The book so far seems to focus a lot of Sally’s daughters and their relationship. While Jimmy in the movie played a big part, he was merely just a few pages worth in the book (thus far. He might have a more important role). The aunts seem to be absent so far as well.

I found this book really hard to get into! I love the movie which is why I wanted to read the book but they are SOOO different and at the start of this I felt that the movie was better (I still do to an extent). Now that I have gotten pretty far into the book I am now starting to understand the writers chooses more.

“Although she’d never believe it, those lines in Gillian’s face are the most beautiful part about her. They reveal what she’s gone through and what’s she’s survived and who exactly she is, deep inside.”
Crying.

I really wish I was enjoying this more. I've started and stopped this book multiple times over the years because I don't love the formatting of the physical book. So this morning i switched to the audio book and I think I have about an hour and a half left. In this particular instance I definitely prefer the film. I hope I enjoy the other books in the series more since I don't have anything to compare them to!

Some of the sex is off-putting because it feels a bit forced and rooted in misogyny.
