listening to this for book club. so slumped rn

Pretty prose but filled with excessive enavel-gazing. Pretty and pointless.

Movie was SOOOOO much better. I almost DNFed because the people were not likable. They felt annoying and whining the whole time. Not a fan of- thank goodness the other books were written better.

when i wake up in the morning and see this book in the bed next to me or on my nightstand it makes me so irrationally angry because of how bad it is that i have to hide it

What is even going on, what is the plot

Officially skimming. I hate them all. The author has a pretty way about her prose but is not my style in terms of narration and it is so superficial that I just don’t care about any of them and actively dislike all of them. Would quit and come back to it if there wasn’t always such a long wait for the book.

Okay I hate the layout of this book. Why are there no chapters????? A lot of the details feel too fluffy and unnecessary. I physically can’t DNF a book but if I could, I would DNF this

It’s very fluid. The main character shifts mid chapter or section without announcement and the pov still bugs me

Very wistful. Well written. Dreamy. Yet it’s all told in a fast forward past tense and I keep waiting for it to catch up and be told in the now.

one of the things they teach you when you take a writing course is to write down everything you can come up with to build up a character's backstory and to keep that information in the back of your mind so that it informs their decisions/thoughts/mannerism/etc as you write them but to not explicitly state the vast majority of it on the page, and this author really did not get that memo. i do not need all of this info

Definitely different from the film. Darker in a way than the first two books. But now I’m hooked on less likable characters.

So different from the movie. Was actually surprised with all the differences but makes it for an anticipatory read as I can’t wait to see how this story resolves.
