I am obsessed with how this author writes. It’s so lengthy and descriptive and chunky but it feels fast paced and nothing is superfluous.

This book is bonkers.

Definitely different than the movie, for those of you wondering. It’s a gentle slice-of-life meandering through the lives of several Owens women, and the ties that bind them. What’s jumping out is the depth to each character that we don’t get in the movie. Definitely their flaws (especially with Gillian) but also the different, indirect ways love is shown in a (healthy-ish) family setting.

I’ve never seen the movie I have nothing to compare this to

being ‘advanced’ for my age tbh gave me a terrible work ethic. when everything caught up to me, i couldn’t adjust to actually putting in effort & now all i do is procrastinate

So far, very different to the movie - a lot darker. I am enjoying it and bloody heck Hoffman really gets me bro.

for witches, even reluctant ones, not burning the body was such a rookie mistake. but for conflict’s sake i suppose or whatever

almost every second of this book goes on a tangent about how beautiful the owens are, how they bewitch men, how desirable they are… i’m tired. is this some kind of self-insert fantasy? i can’t believe im saying this but this is more excessive than y/n fics. i hate it. it’s incredibly boring to me. am i missing some kind of pretty privilege commentary here? i doubt it

I haven't seen the movie, but I imagine this is one where the movie is better... it's kind of slow-paced and mildly repetitive.. it's cute but like.
