James continues to make bad choices and it is putting him in bad situations. After his mom died, he got put in an orphanage. James begins to hang out with gang members and his roommate, Kyle, tells him, "Don't hang out with those guys. They're mental. They go out stealing cars and shoplifting and stuff" (Muchamore 52). However, James ignores Kyle's warnings and continues to hang around the gang members.
