6 or so chapters into book 2 and things have taken a very unexpected turn. Still liking Oree quite a bit more than Yiene, though. The world seems so much mor relatable and full with her. Makes me very curious where series will go in book 3. But first to finish this one!

I can't do. I got halfway through the second book in the trilogy (The Broken Kingdoms) and I lost interest. I tried, I really did.

Finished book one The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. Some surprising developments in the climax even though I suspected the ultimate resolution in Yeine's story for this volume. Quite bewildered to where the story goes from here, as the ending could easily provide enough closure to the plot. That's actually a plus in terms of skill to me!

Nearing the climax of book 1. I love the back story but find it odd how much of this book's plot is moved forward by conversation. Definitely a different kind of fantasy series!

one down, two to go. the first was incredible and makes me hesitant to continue. but the characters and world are so addictive . . .

Really enjoying the 1st person after reading so many tight 3rd person epics. 3rd has become such a staple its a shame. Being limited to a narrator heightens the tension and mystery for me.

I like how the second book follows an entirely new person

Also I don't get why people are attracted to bad boys but if I did, I might get that more

So then the sex scene contains this line " when heavy, thick warmness pushed into me, I had no idea if this was a penis or some entirely different phallus that only gods possess." the sex bit is a bit odd.

I like it so far. The writing style is a bit different with the digression and related info. I think it's an interesting world with the different societies. Darre is interesting to me and I'd like to know more about it.

I have complicated feelings about this trilogy. Great worldbuilding, good pacing, fascinating characters, weeeeeird relationship dynamics.
