just finished Broken Kingdoms. Very different in tone from the first book, but just as enthralling. 5 stars! Onto the 3rd and last volume: Kingdom of The Gods.

At first I hated the weight of this enormous book, & now I've fallen so in love with the words within it I just keep thinking about how much I'll miss it when it's gone.

Deep into the second book in the series, it all begins to come together. What does it look like when the power structure shifts to accommodate social equality? What are the unintended consequences? In the language of gods, worshippers, & vengeance, Jemisin flawlessly speculates about the intense impact of fear.

A good book, but so far I find the title of the first book a bit misleading. Almost all the action and intrigue so far is confined to one, albeit well realised, location. The hundred thousand kingdoms seem to be mere background tapestry and dressing.

This is a much more typical fantasy than Fifth Season. But where it stands out from most fantasy is its feminism, its racial awareness, it's intertwining with current social affairs disguised as the affairs of Gods. I'm not sure where I stand on the story yet, but I know where I stand on Jemisin.

It's getting a liiiiittle weird right now. Like, I don't wanna push myself to keep reading cause then a reading slump can happen.

It's taking me a little to get into the first novel, but I definitely think I'm getting into it now. I love court intrigues and contests, plus I love Sieh, Yeine and Nahadoth.

it's been a while since i've indulged in the pleasure of immersing myself in another world entirely. i'm so, so glad this is the book i felt called to indulge with.

Daaaaang!!! So good!

Can't recall the last time I was drawn so thoroughly and so quickly into a high fantasy.

Started out really well. By the third book I wanted to cry out, "Please just end my suffering!"

Holy crap this series caught me quick. I'm in deep already.

I've finished the first book, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. I didn't really like it much, which is disappointing because it had SO much potential! But every time it was about to get interesting the scene ended and we moved on. The main character does nothing the entire book and the other characters weren't explored deeply enough to become interesting.

Finished book one in this bundle, The Broken Kingdoms is next in the series now. Pretty neat so far

getting the single copies of these books from the library now that they're available because a) then i don't have to keep waiting to renew and b) i am a baby and like the validation of my percent/pages read going up more than 1% a day. so not TECHNICALLY unfinished, despite the shelving.

I really don't like Sieh... So this book is going really slow... It's all about Sieh! :/

into this, except the occasional and jarring uses of modern terms in high fantasy. will never be into women calling other women bitches!!! let alone when they are in a castle in the sky!!!

lol this book is 1400 pages and i don't even remember what leisure reading is any more. but i'm enjoying it so far??

Two down... One to go! A solid 4.5 so far.

This book is honestly too much for me. Yet! I can not stop reading. Emotionally I'm so drained. But I'm on the third book now.
