Hundred Thousand Kingdoms- 3 stars

So this is three books in one listing. I finished the first and added it to my shelves/reviewed it. Really enjoying it! (although I confess I confused this with the Broken Earth trilogy but still happy to be reading it!)

I personally guess that this Godling, “Shiny” is actually Bright Itempas, as he was stripped of his power and trapped in a human form at the end of book one until he could learn to love. And my guess is Oree is the mortal he falls in love with. Like how book 1 was about Yeine and Nahadoth falling in love

I’m now onto the second book in the trilogy. So I guess Sky is now called Shadow, after Yeine created a giant tree at the end of book 1. And our main character this time is Oree, who is blind. She had taken in a “supposed” godling, but he’s not like the other Godlings, which now commonly walk alongside the people, instead of being Prisoners/weapons to....

Interesting turn in the story. I'm fully invested and just trying to find the time to read as much as I can.

I'm really digging the direction in which the first book ended and where the second book begins. Clever, surprising, wry.

I really liked the premise, characters and the writing in general. I just felt like there was a bit of a pacing issue; everything seemed to happen so fast. However this could have been because I had to keep putting it down as I am travelling around at the moment.

Now unto the Awakened Kingdom...

Love this. Read to page eighty. Interesting asides. Tons of mystery. Can't wait to see what happens further along in the series. World-building on-point.

I’m not looking forward to the second book, it’s always frustrating to find out that the next in series has a new protagonist when you JUST started getting into the first one.

This last book is really making me struggle through it. First two I went through with interest, but not digging this one.

The Inheritance Trilogy, Book 2, The Broken Kingdom: 4.5/5 stars. I really liked seeing the aftermath of the events of book one. I had no idea what this book was going to do or where it was going to go, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I liked the continuing development of magic and of the gods in this new world. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

End of Book 1: The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. I’d say 4/5 stars. The was definitely a little on the weird side, but I really liked the world and I thought it was fairly unique. I like how Jemisin was able to create complicated, relatable and unknowable gods whose politics were so interesting and compelling. The ending was definitely unexpected, so I am looking forward to Book 2.
