I finished Kingdom of the Gods this morning. I'm ambivalent about this book - at times it felt like a slog, but it really was a step up over its predecessors in terms of plot and actually showing the reader a diverse and populous world.

De moment The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms molt bé, malgrat algun clixé propi de YA que m'ha costat una mica.

Començant The Broken Kingdoms.

Yeah so book 3 weak. But still I wanted to finish it. It just felt like it didn’t make sense with the rest of the series....

so glad to be reading fiction again.

07/08/2019 - Started reading The Kingdom of the Gods

I loved the Broken Earth trilogy, so I was excited to start this one and after finishing the first book, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, I’ve come to the decision that N. K. Jemisin is one of the best writers I’ve ever read. If I’m sad today that Toni Morrison is gone, I’m glad other women have this power too.

Here we go again! I’m very excited to finish this series! Weird to have different main character for the second book, but if I’ve learned anything I know jemisin has a reason!

I've just finished The Kingdom of Gods. While I didn't like it as much as the previous two books in the series, it was still very good. The ending worked very well (though sad) and I'm glad there was a coda. Off to read The Awakened Kingdom.

I just finished The Broken Kingdoms. After a bit of a slow start, I was completely sucked in. I loved Oree's "paintings", the suspense was very well done, and the ending made me cry.

I really like the style of the chapter titles.

I finished The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (the first book of the trilogy). I enjoyed it a lot, though it was hard to read in places. I'm curious as to what The Broken Kingdoms will be about. It does sound a bit ominous

Part way into book two. She definitely knows how to spin a tale.

29/06/2018: I finished the appendices to The Broken Kingdoms this morning after reaching the end of the story last night. I liked this one more than its predecessor: exploring the city Shadow with a blind woman was definitely interesting.

Finished book 1. It's more violent than I like, but the world building is cool.

I have no idea what’s going on but I want more.

I started reading The Broken Kingdoms on 15/06/2019 and forgot to update

The first book is so. fucking. good. I just finished the third chapter of the second book and it comes roaring out of the gate. I really love the way NKJ slowly reveals the world to us.

Book 1 done! I really enjoyed this one and it surprisingly did not end on a cliffhanger.

I think I'm about 1/2 way through the first book. The narrative is moving along at a brisk pace. I don't feel like the author is dragging out any of the reveals about how the gods fell and this new society came into being. Overall I don't think the world building is as complex and unusual as the Broken Earth, but it's still above most fantasy novels.

I'm enjoying this more than I thought. The assorted captive gods wandering about the castle make for an interesting cast addition.
