Finished A Hundred Thousand Kingdoms... 3 stars.. maybe? I don't know this book was... interesting. There are aspects I enjoyed, but I felt pretty detached to the characters. It's a book that tries to transcend boundaries of sexuality, gender, etc, but perhaps my mind isn't quite as open as I thought. And there was some weird non-maternal shit happening with Yeine and Sieh that I just... couldn't get past.

End of Book 2 - which was wonderful

Starting on page 390 - The Broken Kingdoms - since I already read The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms

Everyone is all about Nahadoth and I don't get it. I dig the whole God of night and shadow form smokey tendrils thing, but he's putting off some assault vibes. Touching her when she says not to and telling her how much she wants him? Doesn't sit well with me but 🤷🏻

This book is so big it hurts my hands to hold it.

This book is amazing though

Book 3.5. Damn this novella was good. So encouraging, funny & uplifting. I loved Shill and her story to find out who she is & what she was born to do. It was short and sweet and I absolutely adored this story.

Book 3. This was EPIC! Absolutely adored Sieh. Loved seeing his growth, literally & figuratively. His love for Deka & Shahar is precious and I’m so happy it ended with all of them together, even if it was after their deaths. This was such a complete story and I’m so satisfied by it, it feels unnerving to me, I don’t know why. But I am looking forward to the sequel novella, more Sieh! :) My heart is happy rn.

BOOK 2. Wow! This book centers around Oree & she meets Itempas in mortal form, she names him Shiny (which I love). Lots of godlings & a crazy religious power hungry scrivener as the villain to round it out. I loved Oree’s relation with Shiny, he learned to love, to care, to know that he’s afraid of being alone. And when he left to protect Oree, it broke me. But I’m happy for her little unborn surprise :)

My god the first book was so good!

I wish I'd restarted my goodreads entry for this. I tried to read this last year and wasn't in the right mood for it, but I've been devouring it recently. Probably started over reading it again... June 2nd? We'll go with that.

BOOK 1. Holy crap this was such an epic & glorious read! I was so confused for the most of it, but the last 100 pages or so really rounded out all the mystery. I loved that Yeine became a goddess & that she got revenge against Scimina & Itempas. Also, her & Nahadoth? Yess please! Excited to dive into the next book.

Finished book 2. This was really different from the first. More powerful and much more emotional, with a truly stunning turn of events at the end.

Just finished the first book in this series "The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms". So far it's OK but not GREAT. I don't know if it's all that I have going on or what but I do know that I wanted so badly to enjoy this so much. Looking forward to book two "Broken Kingdoms".

Finished the first book in the trilogy. It really came together in the end. Very glad because I was thoroughly confused for much of it.

Completed the first book. I am left thinking on what I find unique about Jemisin's genre writing; the themes + other story elements common across her different works; how she genders power and positions the different forces to play out; and how that too, has changed somewhat from this trilogy to Broken Earth and perhaps beyond.

Back on pause to make room for review copies.

I'm back with this one after work knocked me off track. Let's see if I can finish the 1st book in a little over 24 hrs so I can make it to NEWTs. 🥺

4/28 - Just finished The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, 3/5 stars. I enjoyed the set up of the world, but felt the book was clunky and rushed at times. As the book continued I could see her growth as an author, and by the end I was excited for the sequel.

Im enjoyong it, but less than the other 2.
Surprising, since it's Sieh pov and he was one of my favourite character.

5 stars for book 2 in the trilogy.

I'm well into The Broken Kingdoms.
I like this ok .. not as much as The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, but I am understanding this better .
What threw me off is that it follows, a different set of characters ! I Was expecting to get more of Nahadoth.

Really enjoyed the last book as well!
I don't know if I enjoyed it as much as the second one or a little bit more..
but first onto book 3.5
