So I am starting this series and I do have the omnibus but I don't know whether to count this as one book or three books. Decisions!

As implied by the title, this book is really an omnibus. I just finished Book One: The 100,000 Kingdoms and am intrigued by the world that Jemisen built. I'm looking forward to the next two books.

end of book one check-in: some info dumping at the beginning but once I got into it I felt fully immersed and I am loving this, as horrible as these characters' actions are -- 5 stars so far

5 stars for The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. It was breathtaking and beautiful. The audio read by Casaundra Freeman was delightful accompaniment to reading.

I’m enjoying the trilogy so far. Just finished the main text of the first book - now I’m into some appendices that aren’t holding my interest. I’ll try them again when I haven’t just read the big finale scene.

I'm only a few chapters in so far, and I know it'll take me ages to finish, but in a way I like that - it's a trilogy so packed with world-building that it's a nice escape to pick it up once every few weeks or months, read a couple of pages, and continue on with life again. In a strange way it feels like reading a history book of another world.

So I just finished Book 2 of The Inheritance Trilogy, The Broken Kingdoms. I gotta say, I fell in love with this sequel just as much as I did with the first one and now I am considering reading the author's other works. As far as world-building goes, it very loosely defined, but the way she describes the world gives me enough information that I can adequately paint a picture.

Whelp finished the third book. It was okay. Definitely my least favorite of the three. It wraps it up fine albeit extremely messily in my opinion. Kinda drags the whole series down as a whole for me. It turned out decent and did not start to get somewhat interesting until over halfway through the book. On to the novella.

I'm trying very hard to keep an open mind about this book, considering it's one of the highest-rated books in my tbr, and looking at all the reviews, seems really great. However, the book at the moment is rather scattered. Plus the heroine is very childish

Had to google The Kingdom of Gods reviews to give me something concrete to hold on to. I haven't done one of these long fantasy novels in a while. Internet says it's only 624 pages but it feels longer. 😄 Not entirely in a bad way just...a blink of an eye to a god is a lifetime for a mortal etc. (I'm mortal.)

Whelp I finished the second book. I enjoyed it. It was a roller coaster and as masterfully written as the first. However the ending just turned me completely off. I HATE when authors pull that stunt at the end. It's unnecessary it adds nothing and yet I'm stuck with the knowledge. Here's hoping book three takes place at a different time like book two.

What a phenomenal read. I loved how N.K. Jeminsin could articulate how gods can think, which not many authors can do. Since we are mortal, we can never hope to understand the cosmic entities that can create or destroy on a whim, but what a fantastic ending for The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

So, that sneaking suspicion I had earlier? It came true. And I'm SCREAMING, because she did it in such a way that I didn't see it coming. I thought for sure that the revelation would be more towards the end of the book, but N.K. Jemisin throughs conformity to the wind and introduces it towards what I think is the rising action section of the book. I can't wait to get to the climax of the action.
