After putting his personal life on hold, Ben and Roberta leave to dig deeper into his mystery and murder of a fellow scientist. It is here that Ben learns more about Tesla and his invention that was able to literally move mountains and yet fit into a trouser pocket. With henchmen still chasing them, Ben and Roberta turn to the other scientist who received a letter, learning just how dangerous the technology could be.

Taking up a temporary vicarship, Ben Hope is relaxing in rural England and preparing for his wedding to the illustrious, Brooke Marcel. However, when an old flame turns up at the door, she recounts a tale of how she is being followed and her friend's recent murder is being discounted by Paris police. After poking around Hope and his friend are attacked and almost killed. Hope cancels his nuptuals and tries to help.
