~ But mostly, I kissed him for me, because I was starting to wonder if Stitch really was right about that fine line between love and hate.

~ I had no flashbacks of our rocky history. No memories of our past. Cade Williams, the boy, didn’t enter my thoughts. It was Cade Williams, the man, kissing me now.

~ “You were always… mine… to tease… you had always been mine and… I don’t know, Red. I think they knew I was a bit… possessive of you. Well, at least Ramsey figured that out.”

~ It was the fact that he had done all of those things for me. Me. His lifelong antagonist. The thorn in his side. The anchovies to his pizza. The girl who lived for revenge and to make his life miserable.

~ Trying to resist Cade Williams when he got his flirt on was like eating pancakes without slathering it first in maple syrup. It could be done, but then all you had to eat was dry, bland tasteless pancakes. And I hated dry pancakes. I could almost hear my dad laughing from here.

~ Why was it that the people you walk the most on egg-shells with are the ones you are the most nervous to disappoint?

~ …deep down, I did care about him. That was the problem. A big problem. It turns out when someone goes Crocodile Dundee and shoots a mountain lion that’s about to rip the size six meat off your bones, it’s rather difficult to push that person out of your mind.

~ He was warm and smelled of campfire and pine trees, so masculine, and so like him.

~ Until I remembered, to my complete horror, that I had never once uttered a thank you to my rescuer. The one whose quick-thinking, skill and kindness left me alive and comforted. It was that awful feeling of something left unfinished. A gift wrapped, but not delivered. A thank you card written, but never sent.

~ How could I be one thing to somebody, and something so completely different to another?

~ I wrapped my arm around his waist and nestled closer to his side. I sunk down a bit to fit more snugly under his arm. He was barely two inches taller than me, and I always had to crouch.

Me: SEE! I don’t want that. Kels is 5’6”

~ Parker and I danced around all subjects of food, dresses, and Cade Williams the rest of the night. But the elephants in the room were all around us. Literally.

~ The tiniest whiff of his cologne permeated the air between us. I must have been hungry because the word ‘delicious’ was the only way my boggled brain could describe what I was smelling.

Pre-read: I guess I’ve found a new guilty pleasure author. I loved the second one, which I read last night, so much, that I’m immediately picking this up. Planning on using it for ATY book about pride because it’s in the series name.
