~ I had no flashbacks of our rocky history. No memories of our past. Cade Williams, the boy, didn’t enter my thoughts. It was Cade Williams, the man, kissing me now.

~ “You were always… mine… to tease… you had always been mine and… I don’t know, Red. I think they knew I was a bit… possessive of you. Well, at least Ramsey figured that out.”

~ Trying to resist Cade Williams when he got his flirt on was like eating pancakes without slathering it first in maple syrup. It could be done, but then all you had to eat was dry, bland tasteless pancakes. And I hated dry pancakes. I could almost hear my dad laughing from here.

~ He was warm and smelled of campfire and pine trees, so masculine, and so like him.

~ Until I remembered, to my complete horror, that I had never once uttered a thank you to my rescuer. The one whose quick-thinking, skill and kindness left me alive and comforted. It was that awful feeling of something left unfinished. A gift wrapped, but not delivered. A thank you card written, but never sent.

~ How could I be one thing to somebody, and something so completely different to another?

~ I wrapped my arm around his waist and nestled closer to his side. I sunk down a bit to fit more snugly under his arm. He was barely two inches taller than me, and I always had to crouch.

~ Parker and I danced around all subjects of food, dresses, and Cade Williams the rest of the night. But the elephants in the room were all around us. Literally.

Pre-read: I guess I’ve found a new guilty pleasure author. I loved the second one, which I read last night, so much, that I’m immediately picking this up. Planning on using it for ATY book about pride because it’s in the series name.

I’m struggling with this one. She’s engaged and planning her wedding. I understand that her fiancé isn’t good for her. Everyone around her understands that. Everyone except her also understands that the prank war is akin to flirtation. So, this prank war starting back up just feels super inappropriate for me. I just want her to end her relationship before this other stuff gets out of hand. Might DNF.

There's a lot of weight talk in this book. In the prologue, the heroine's teacher is described as quite large with meaty fingers. The heroine is forced into trying to drop from a size 6 to a size 4 in order to appease her fiance and future mother-in-law (they want her to wear a wedding dress that must be a size 4), and remarks about how you're worth less if you're not thin have been made. Not loving this.

The main character is already super obsessed with looks. Someone telling her she looks good and her acknowledging that's what losing 20 pounds will do. Telling someone she looks great but mentally noting she had on too much makeup for such a pretty face. This isn't starting well.
